In this very special session, Major General Des Barker (South African Air Force, retired) will use information contained in his database of nearly 1,350 accidents and incidents to identify the most common and preventable types of accidents in the worldwide air show community and make simple, straightforward suggestions for mitigating the risk in those types of accidents. A veteran fighter pilot and test pilot, Barker has developed an extensive database that includes information on a full century of air show accidents and incidents. He has analyzed that data for the express purpose of providing active air show pilots with information that they can use to avoid mistakes and problems that resulted in serious problems for other air show performers.
