| STEM education is a hot topic, and recently released data from international math and science assessments indicate that U.S. students continue to rank around the middle of the pack, and significantly behind many other advanced industrial nations. This, coupled with the dramatic shortfall in pilots and aviation mechanics makes STEM a critical mission for the air show community. Many air shows have successfully integrated STEM education into their events, and connected to their community with impactful programs that inspire local young people to consider aerospace careers. STEM programs are not only great community outreach, they are highly sponsorable and draw significant media interest.
